Congratulations to all the Wheeler instrumentalists for a successful year. Each and every student should be proud of his or her progress and accomplishments. The band and ensembles performed for three successful concerts. We had a fantastic time on the band trip to Boston (Who can forget the Blue Man Group!). The Sixth-Grade Concert Band was awarded a Gold rating at the NYSSMA Major Ensemble Festival! Thirty students participated in the NYSSMA Solo & Ensemble Festival and received four festival ratings, fifteen Excellent ratings, and twenty Outstanding ratings (with four perfect scores)! Special congratulations to our graduating sixth-graders, they will certainly be missed.
Congratulations to Geena, JT, Chris, and Colin for being featured in the Syracuse Post-Standard on Saturday, June 4! You can read the article on Syracuse.com by clicking here
Current fourth-graders have received information and a sign-up sheet to participate in the instrumental program next school year. All students will be screened, and those who sign-up will be placed on an instrument by the end of the school year. We are having an information night at the Wheeler School Cafeteria on Tuesday, September 13 at 7:00 pm. Please plan on attending if your child is new to the program. In addition to important information about the program, representatives from the local music store will be present to answer questions and arrange instrument rentals.
