Part 5a Additional Information:  Guideline to Effective Teaching

• Focus on only one or two items at one time
• Prioritize what you work on (usually in this order):
   -Hand position and posture
   - Rhythm and Notes
   - Tone production
   - Tuning
   - Expressive elements of music (dynamics, bowings)
• Do not work ahead of what they are learning at school, try to get them to do the school music better
• If student is ready to move ahead of school music, select a different music book to supplement school materials
